A letter to a Man whose wife is Pregnant

“Disclaimer: This is not dedicated to my husband, it’s curated keeping in mind the life of some pregnant women who crave so many things & our deprived of it.”

Having each other’s back no matter what !!

Hello Mr. Husband,

We are pregnant, yes this is what I like to hear rather than I am pregnant.

It is something that we opted for together then why not call it that.

Who says it’s weird for you to have cravings or mood swings, though the baby is not in you but you are the one who is more concerned as you need to take care of both of us.

I know you are excited but at times may wonder what’s happening.

You might think of the different things that I have been doing, sometimes you may find me sad, sometimes happy, somtimes cry, sometimes funny, sometimes lame, oh sometimes scary as well and sometimes you might find me annoying, but trust me I’m not doing it purposely, even I’m confused on what my state of mind is.

I can tell you that I’m being hormonal, but you’ll wonder on what that is. Well nothing but the side affects of being pregnant.

I might demand more love from you, it’s not that I’m expecting, it’s the baby in me that demands for it.

I don’t expect anything much it’s just me wanting to enjoy and live each and every minute to the fullest during my 9 months, not just for me or for the baby but for us.

I miss my parents, I miss their pampering, I miss my siblings also I miss my friends, I miss the place where I grew up, so I demand extra from you, it is you and only you who can fill this gap.

There are times I might just need you to pamper me like I am your child, well there is no harm in Practicing.

After we deliver our life will be different, I might not be the same me and you might not be the same you, our priorities, our preferences might change but let’s make a promise to each other to let our love grow and not judge each other.

During the process of my delivery I will need you, you might not want to be there, you might be scared but imagine me going through it alone, who can support me more than you can even imagine in this. When I open my eyes I want to see you around, holding our baby. Yes the baby is our universe and will change the purpose of living.

If you ever feel I’m not doing something which I should be doing, please don’t get angry make me understand, I might have become absent minded or too engrossed into myself.

I might be stressed about my life changing, my body changing, I can take every part of this provided you are there with me to boost me up.

A few things that I would want to do with you during this phase Shopping for the baby together, shortlisting on names, clicking funny and cute pictures, going for walks together, going on dinner dates and also cooking together.

I might want to sleep extra, I might just want to laze around, it’s just me want to relax before the change in our life.

I want to thank you for all the love, comfort and support you have given me, sometimes I might fail to express but deep down I do know how you feel.

“So let’s start this journey together Papa to be”

So Mommies, never really be afraid or reserved to share what you want from your husband rather express it than expect, because he might not know what your going through and you might only hurt yourself by expecting.

So heartwarming! I’m not pregnant but this post did touch my heartstrings. I’m sure this is the bare minimum we expect from our husbands. 🙂 Beautifully penned.

Such a beautiful letter, Dimple. You speak for every pregnant woman out there. Pregnancy is a wonderful time for the couple to bond, and I hope more husbands understand this after reading your post.
